The NSW/ACT Branch of ANZSOM and AFOEM are pleased to invite you to the Dr Steven Ng Memorial Christmas Meeting at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia on Wednesday 27 November.
The evening will include drinks and canapes, followed by a
2-course dinner with wines, as well as a presentation by A/Prof David Heslop, on 'The implications of anticipated future climate change on occupational and emergency health systems supporting deployed, remote and offshore, and austere conditions'.

About the presenter
Dr David Heslop is an Associate Professor at the School of Population Health at UNSW Sydney and is a clinically active GP and Occupational and Environmental Physician. He has deployed to a wide variety of military and humanitarian assistance environments, and has deep knowledge and skills in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Medicine, policy development and advice. He was Senior Medical Officer for Special Operations Command, the Officer Commanding and Senior Medical Officer to the ADF CBRNE medical incident response team, now providing specialist advice and support to senior military and industry partners Since 2016 he has worked as a full time Associate Professor at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, with a key focus on developing collaborative research opportunities between military and industry, developing computational models of health systems under emergency and crisis conditions and changing conditions such as climate change and resource scarcity, and health system optimisation such as Digital Twin models and Agent Based Modelling and Simulation.

The NSW/ACT Branch of ANZSOM had their Weekend Meeting in Bowral from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 August 2024.

A site visit on the Friday afternoon, to Australian BioResources, a state-of-the-art laboratory animal facility, owned and operated by the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

Wine tasting with grazing boards by an open fire, followed by dinner, on the Friday night
