VIC/TAS Branch End of year dinner meeting
The ANZSOM VIC/TAS Branch is pleased to invite you to our end of year dinner meeting, which will be held at the Kew Golf Club on Thursday 28 November 2024. All are welcome to attend!
The evening will also include a presentation by public and occupational health scientist, Brad Prezant on Surface sampling for mould: Making sense of the techniques and meaning.

About the presenter
Brad Prezant is a public and occupational health scientist specializing in epidemiology and occupational hygiene. He evaluates workplaces for a range of health issues, including complex air quality and ventilation assessments, blending health and engineering insights. Holding a master’s in Public & Environmental Health (MSPH) and an MBA from the University of Washington, he served as an Affiliate Associate Professor there for 15 years.
Certified as an Occupational Hygienist (COH, CIH) and Air Quality Professional (CAQP), Brad is WELL-accredited and serves on the WELL advisory board for Air Quality. He is also a member of ASHRAE’s Standard 241 committee on infectious aerosols, guiding buildings on ventilation and infection mitigation.
Notably, Brad led assessments of Victorian quarantine hotels in 2021 to enhance ventilation systems and reduce COVID-19 risks. He contributed to Harvard's Airline Public Health Initiative on SARS-CoV-2 transmission and edited key publications on indoor mold and ventilation to prevent COVID in schools.

ANZSOM VIC/TAS Branch End of year dinner meeting
The ANZSOM VIC/TAS Branch held its end of year dinner meeting at the Treacy Centre on Thursday 7 December.
The evening was well attended and included a presentation by Sport and Exercise Physician, Dr Kal Fried, on 'A journey navigating the compensable environment and the relevance of that weird pain science stuff'.

VIC/TAS Branch AGM and Educational Meeting - Case discussions
ANZSOM and AFOEM VIC/TAS members participated in our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) peer review session on Thursday 17 August at the Aviary Hotel Abbotsford. This event aimed to foster insightful discussions while providing a forum to earn Category 2 points.
Throughout the evening, attendees participated in informal, face-to-face case discussions with their ANZSOM colleagues over a two-course meal. It was a fantastic opportunity that amalgamated networking, learning, and professional growth.

Bonnie McMeekin graduated in 1999 and has worked as a zoo and wildlife veterinarian since 2004. She has worked in many zoos in Australia and New Zealand with a wide range of species. She is currently the senior veterinarian at the Melbourne Zoo.
