OHN Recognition Program - Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I have to be an ANZSOM member to apply for recognition under the program?
A. Yes, the program is open to ANZSOM members only. You may apply to join ANZSOM at the same time as applying for recognition. ANZSOM membership must be maintained for the recognition to continue to be valid.
Q. How long does the recognition apply for?
A. A nurse recognised under the program is able to promote themselves as an ANZSOM Recognised Occupational Health Nurse for three years, provided they maintain their membership over that time. They must reapply after that 3-year period.
Q. Do I have to pay for the program if my application is unsuccessful?
A. The application fee of $300 (inc GST) is nonrefundable but unsuccessful candidates can reapply within 12 months at no additional cost.
Q. Can I apply if I am not currently working as an occupational health nurse?
Q. Currency of practice is a criterion for receiving recognition. However, we recognise that the scope of OHN practice is broad and is likely to encompass various roles. We also recognise that applicants may be seeking work or changing employment. “Current employment as an OHN” is therefore defined as working in occupational health in the last 6 months and actively seeking employment.
Q. Can I speak to someone about the requirements of the program?
A. Yes, please contact us at the Secretariat if you would like to talk to one of our member nurses about your application or about the program more generally.
